Lecavalier Cellars, the Newcastle-based winery known for its hand-crafted small-batch wines, is setting its sights on Sacramento.
The team is pursuing permits to open Lecavalier Winery and Kitchen at the former Roxy Restaurant & Bar location at 2381 Fair Oaks Blvd, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. Details about the restaurant’s menu, concept, or opening date remain under wraps for now.
The winery itself has been on an upward trajectory since its first tasting room launched in Newcastle in May 2024. Founder Mike Fournier and his partners, longtime friends and neighboring property owners in Penryn, are also preparing to break ground on Project 8 Winery in the rolling hills of historic Penryn.
According to Lecavalier Cellars’ website, the team’s mission is built around an “enthusiasm for wine and a passion for innovation.” “As neighbors sharing adjacent properties in Penryn, they saw the enormous potential in planting wine grapes that would reflect the local terroir while also highlighting the area’s rich agricultural history,” the site reads.
While Sacramento’s Lecavalier Winery and Kitchen remains in the planning stage, fans can expect a focus on wine-forward experiences, likely paired with seasonal, approachable dishes that complement the vineyard’s offerings. What Now Sacramento has reached out to the Lecavalier team for more details and will share updates as soon as they’re available.
