It looks like a local Mexican restaurant chain is expanding to Auburn.

El Favorito Taqueria Cocina Mexicana is planning to open its seventh location in the former Burgerim space at 2785 Grass Valley Hwy, according to documents recently filed with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Owner Ivan Torres has been working in the restaurant industry since he was 18 years old and operates all El Favorito Taqueria restaurants with his family.

Although he did not respond to inquiries from What Now Sacramento, the Auburn outpost will likely serve El Favorito Taqueria’s typical menu, featuring a range of Mexican staples like tacos, burritos, nachos, and seafood plates, as well as breakfast options and classic Mexican cocktails.

Once it debuts, the new eatery will join existing El Favorito Taqueria locations in North Natomas, Rancho Cordova, El Dorado Hills, Rosemont, and Grass Valley.
