After a quarter-century of slinging take-and-bake pies in Elk Grove, the Papa Murphy’s at 8559 Elk Grove Blvd has temporarily closed its doors.
According to a comment on an Elk Grove Laguna Forums Facebook post, a note from owners Penny and Lance Haley now hangs in the front window, alongside a QR code linking to a GoFundMe page.
“The support from local customers has always been overwhelming, but now, during these tough times, I find myself needing help more than ever,” the Haleys wrote in part. “It’s difficult to ask for assistance, but I believe in the power of community. Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in keeping this business alive. Together, we can ensure that this place remains a source of joy and connection for everyone in Elk Grove. If you’re able to lend a hand, I would be forever grateful. Thank you for considering helping out during this critical time.”
Known for its customizable pizzas and other Italian-inspired fare, Papa Murphy’s boasts more than 1,250 locations nationwide, including over a dozen in the Sacramento area alone.
In a conversation with What Now Sacramento, Lance confirmed that he and Penny recently operated another nearby Papa Murphy’s location on Laguna Blvd. That store is now permanently shuttered, though Google still lists it as temporarily closed.
The Haleys continue to seek donations for their Elk Grove Blvd Papa Murphy’s. Contributions can be made through their GoFundMe page.
