A taste of Greece is coming to Roseville.

Mati Modern Greek Cuisine is set to take over the former site of Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse at 3003 Douglas Blvd in the Olympus Corporate Centre, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. Owner Bulent Ozel, who is launching the eatery alongside two business partners, hopes to welcome guests as early as December 2025 or January 2026.

Rather than sticking to the usual gyro-and-shawarma lineup, Mati will specialize in contemporary dishes such as lamb meatballs, grilled branzino, Greek salad, eggplant plates, and house-made pita, alongside a roster of handcrafted cocktails.

The partners plan to refresh the interior with warm, Greek-inspired touches, creating an atmosphere that works as well for midday meetings as it does for romantic date nights.

Originally from Turkey, Ozel also co-owns Rose Park Bistro in Roseville and Fiori Italian Bistro in Folsom. He previously owned a restaurant in Burlingame, where his two current partners worked; one partner is Turkish, and the other is half Greek and half Turkish.

Mati, which means “eye” in Greek, is expected to employ roughly 60 people when it debuts in the coming months.
