An Arab-Mexican fusion pop-up known for sourdough flatbread wraps and pastries is soon opening a brick-and-mortar in midtown Sacramento.
Meza California will open in March at 1415 16th St., in the former Simon’s Bar & Cafe space, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The restaurant’s farm-to-table culinary craft is heavily influenced by the Sacramento Valley and the bi-cultural upbringing of its founder and chef Kasandra Kachakji, per Meza California’s website.
Meza California’s menu includes wraps such as the Za’Atar, with tomato, cucumber, mint, wild thyme, sesame, sumac, and olive oil. Other options are the Taco Arabe, which has al pastor lamb, arugula, pickled onion, and creamy garlic sauce called toum, and the Viva Palestina, which has sumac-spiced chicken, caramelized onions, and arugula. All wraps can be made on a bed of arugula to accommodate guests who prefer a gluten-free option. A few of its pastry options include chocolate chip tahini cookies, seasonal conchas and paletas, and sfouf, a traditional Lebanese dessert cake.
Until the physical location opens, guests can find Meza California serving its specialty items at the Midtown Farmers Market on Saturday mornings and occasionally at Nitty’s Cider in East Sacramento.
Meza California’s restaurant hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
