A new concept focusing on authentic Caribbean food is in the works in Sacramento. Owner Shawn Sardia has filed a fictitious business name for A Taste of the Yaan Man Caribbean at 5800 Madison Ave. The business will start as a ghost kitchen focusing on takeout and catering orders with plans to expand into a streetside popup.
“Nothing has been solidified yet and I’m still in the early stage of working on the business. Right now I’m trying to get all necessary licenses,” Sardia told What Now Sacramento over the phone. “If everything works out, I’m hoping to open some time in November. But again, it’s too early to be sure about that.”
Sardia has always cooked for his friends and families, including his closed one’s weddings. The reputation built up and he began to receive catering orders through word of mouth.
“This is going to take some time, but I want to make sure I do everything right,” said Sardia.
The M&M Shopping Center also houses a few other concepts, including Thai Hut, Nour’s Cafe, and a barber shop called Hair Star. The center also includes a food storage and commissary kitchen complex that provides shared commercial kitchen space for emerging food businesses.
