A new taproom may be on its way to Sacramento’s Curtis Park neighborhood.
Husband-and-wife team Dave and Dana Herrera have applied for a conditional use permit to open Backstage Brewing Company at 2425 24th Street, Suite B.
The 5,239-square-foot space, formerly home to Hoppy Brewing Company, currently houses Official Brewing Company, which the Herreras also own and operate as a contract brewery and appointment-only tour spot.
While nothing is set in stone, Dave—who is also a commercial real estate broker with Colliers—told the Sacramento Business Journal that he and his wife are “taking baby steps” and “exploring opportunities.”
Still, signs point to progress. Backstage already has a Google Business listing and an Instagram presence promising a 2025 debut, billing itself as “a drink manufacturing company with a unique live music venue and event space.”
An Eventective listing describes the venue as “Nashville meets Hollywood,” with a full stage, a grand piano, drums, a PA system, and karaoke capabilities, along with a Nashville-style bar pouring from 24 taps.
The space also includes a lounge with bar seating and can accommodate 50 to 150 guests, with event pricing ranging from $1,000 to $3,500.
Meanwhile, the company’s website showcases a lineup of lagers, ales, IPAs, and refreshers, plus a “Backstage Pass Membership” offering monthly 4-packs for $9.95 and a “Mobile Beer Garden” that delivers drinks to parties and community events.
For now, Official Brewing continues to focus on contract work and private tours, and the Herreras stress that Backstage remains in the planning stages. Notably, the brewery isn’t affiliated with Real Pie Company next door, though the two businesses share the same address.
Stay tuned for updates as this project develops in Curtis Park.
