A Sacramento-based coffee roaster will soon open its fifth site in the city.
Old Soul Co. is taking over the former Badfish Coffee & Tea space at 10239 Fair Oaks Blvd, Suite B reports the Sacramento Business Journal. The 1,500-square-foot site, located in the heart of Fair Oaks Village, has been vacant since Badfish closed both its Fair Oaks and Orangevale shops on May 30, 2025.
Founded in 2006 by Jason Griest and Tim Jordan, Old Soul started out as a small-batch roastery and bakery tucked inside a Midtown rear alley warehouse. Over the years, the business has evolved into a beloved local chain with four rustic outposts—at The Weatherstone, Oak Park, 555 Capitol Mall, and its original alley location.
The Fair Oaks café will mirror the offerings of its predecessors, with a familiar lineup of hot and iced drinks, seasonal soups, hearty sandwiches, and fresh-baked pastries. A spacious patio is also part of the new setup, which the team plans to renovate and expand over time.
Old Soul is tenatively slated to start pouring in Fair Oaks this September and is currently hiring baristas, kitchen staff, and managers.
