The founders of a 100% halal Mediterranean and Middle Eastern eatery are bringing their authentic flavors back to Elk Grove.

Husband-and-wife team Sulaiman “Sal” Safi and Farah Safi are opening a third Original Sal’s Kabob & Gyro Grill at 4810 Elk Grove Blvd, Suite 140, in The Raley’s Center, shared Sal in a recent Facebook update.

The Safis originally launched the first Sal’s on Laguna Blvd (now called Salsal Kabob & Gyro Grill), where they ran it for 15 years before passing it to new owners. They still operate the other two Original Sal’s locations in Lodi and Roseville.

While the new Elk Grove outpost will feature many of the familiar favorites fans know and love—gyros, kabobs, shawarmas, and falafel—it will also introduce something entirely new: dessert. “This location will be special because we will actually be adding dessert and Mediterranean-style ice cream called baklava ice cream,” Sal told What Now Sacramento.

Guests can expect baklava flavors like pistachio, walnut, and chocolate, alongside ice cream layered with pieces of baklava in pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors. The menu will also include various meat and vegetable platters, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, salads, and sides such as dolmas and fries.

The roughly 1,500-square-foot Elk Grove location is anticipated to open during the first week of February 2026.
