Rancho Cordova‘s only Panda Express has temporarily closed for renovations.
Located at 10831-A Olson Dr, the American-Chinese fast food spot is undergoing what company leadership calls a “restaurant upgrade.”
James Ku, chief development officer at Panda Restaurant Group—the parent company of Panda Express—confirmed the closure with What Now Sacramento. While he didn’t specify an exact timeline or specific details about the renovation, Ku assured that the location will “reopen soon.”
Founded in 1983 by college sweethearts Andrew and Peggy Cherng, Panda Express has expanded from a single Southern California mall location into a global empire with more than 2,500 restaurants. Today, it stands as the largest family-owned and operated Asian dining concept in the United States.
The chain is known for its fast, affordable takes on American-Chinese classics like Beijing Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Its most iconic menu item—Orange Chicken—was created in 1987 by Executive Chef Andy Kao in preparation for the brand’s expansion into Hawaii.
Ku mentioned that the Panda Express marketing team would reach back out with more information, so stay tuned for updates on the reopening of the Rancho Cordova location.
