Downtown Rocklin is on the cusp of a major transformation.
On October 9, 2025, developer G3 Concepts submitted a $21,000 design review application for the proposed Rocklin Public Market to the city’s Planning Department. The ambitious mixed-use development is planned for the 3-acre former Big Gun Quarry property at 5255 Pacific St and promises a dynamic blend of shops, dining, residences, and public gathering spaces overlooking Quarry Park Adventure Park and Amphitheater, according to city documents.
The plans detail a lively, multi-level marketplace featuring:
- A two-story retail building for shops and local businesses
- A two-floor market hall with food and beverage vendors on the first floor and an open space on the second floor for events and additional seating
- A three-story mixed-use building with 20 residential units above ground-floor commercial space
- A two-story brewery and restaurant with a covered outdoor patio
- A new parking lot designed to work with nearby city-owned parking areas
“This project represents a major step in shaping Rocklin’s downtown,” reads a page on the city’s website. “City staff have been working for years to bring a public market to life, and we are thrilled to have partners like G3 Concepts bring their experience and vision to the table. G3 Concepts has a proven track record, having worked on previous development projects in Rocklin and currently operating the successful San Luis Obispo Public Market, home to more than 20 local businesses.”
While specific tenants have yet to be announced, city planning documents confirm that the market would include a brewery, a full-service restaurant, and multiple smaller vendors. The mix is designed to appeal to a wide audience, offering both quick bites and leisurely meals.
“This project has the potential to be a true catalyst for downtown Rocklin and builds off years of investment by the City in the downtown,” said Andrew Keys, Assistant City Manager. “The Rocklin Public Market will bring new energy, businesses, and experiences to the heart of our city. Partnering with G3 Concepts, who already understand the Rocklin community, gives us confidence in the vision and execution of this public market.”
Official tenant announcements and opening dates will be shared once plans are finalized, so keep an eye out for updates.
