A San Francisco-born Yemeni coffee chain is preparing to launch its second Greater Sacramento location.

Sana’a Cafe recently announced plans to open an Elk Grove outpost, though the exact address remains under wraps for now.

“Sana’a Cafe is proud to announce that we will be coming soon to the City of Elk Grove,” wrote the cafe’s Sacramento team in a social media update. “We look forward to becoming part of the community there, bringing unique flavors, and celebrating our heritage.”

Founded in May 2023, local partner Hesham Hussain introduced Downtown Sacramento to Sana’a Cafe early this year. The brand now operates seven locations across the state, with at least seven more currently in development.

“We’ve been [Downtown] for almost a year now and we’re ready to explore other locations,” Hussain told What Now Sacramento.

Honoring Yemen as the birthplace of coffee, Sana’a Cafe is celebrated for its authentic Yemeni coffee and tea, including both conventional and creative lattes—some with traditional twists, others featuring modern flavors like pistachio or Biscoff. For a shared experience, dine-in guests can enjoy coffee pots in small, medium, or large sizes, serving one to four people.

The menu also features pastries and sweets inspired by Middle Eastern flavors, sourced from local bakeries, alongside light bites like spinach fatayer (savory pies) and chicken musakhan (a roasted chicken classic).

Hussain hopes to open the Elk Grove café before the end of 2025. More details are expected in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for updates.
