More than a year after going dark, a North Auburn barbecue restaurant may finally be nearing its return.
Sierra Grill Smokehouse, which has been closed since a kitchen fire broke out at the eatery in February 2024, recently shared a hopeful update on social media after months of silence. “We are moving as fast as the county will let us,” the team wrote. “[We] will definitely post it when we get the okay! ”
The restaurant originally planned to reopen in January 2025 but has faced ongoing construction and permitting delays. “We’re working with our awesome contractors on getting everything finished as quickly as possible,” the team posted earlier this year. “We thank you for your patience and can’t wait to see everyone so soon!”
Owned by brothers Mark and Nader Haddad, Sierra Grill Smokehouse opened its doors at 2515 Grass Valley Hwy in 2010. The menu features a hearty spread of pulled pork, Texas-style brisket, burgers, steaks, chicken sandwiches, and other smoky favorites.
The duo told What Now Sacramento that while they don’t have an exact reopening date just yet, it “should be very soon.” For the latest updates, follow Sierra Grill Smokehouse on Facebook.
