A San Francisco-based fast-casual pizza franchise is planning its second Sacramento-area location.
Slice House by Tony Gemignani will take over Suite 101 at 4060 Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay‘s Sierra Oaks Plaza shopping mall, filling a space that’s sat empty for years.
Founded in 2010 in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, Slice House is the brainchild of Tony Gemignani, a celebrated chef, restaurateur, and 13-time world pizza champion. The concept grew out of the runaway success of Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, which debuted in 2009.
Slice House has made a name for itself with both by-the-slice and whole pies, offered in a wide range of regional styles: New York, Detroit, Sicilian, and pan-fried thin crust, which the brand calls “Grandma.”
Since launching its franchising program in 2022, the company has rapidly expanded with 22 locations and another 117 currently in the pipeline, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
Granite Bay franchisee Sandeep Gill, who teamed up with his brother Harjot to launch the Folsom location last February, said the Granite Bay restaurant will offer the full Slice House lineup, along with a one-of-a-kind pie he’ll craft in collaboration with Gemignani.
“As someone who loves great pizza and Tony Gemignani’s passion for the craft, I knew Slice House would be a perfect fit here,” Sandeep told What Now Sacramento. “Granite Bay deserves a spot where you can grab a quick slice, enjoy a meal with friends, or take pizza home for the family. I wanted to be the one to bring that experience to the neighborhood.”
The Douglas Blvd space will be renovated to accommodate the new restaurant, which is slated to open in the first quarter of 2026. Slice House Granite Bay will span 3,300 square feet and seat 95 guests.
