A minor use permit to reestablish The Spindrift General Store & Restaurant at 841 W Brannan Island Rd was filed with Sacramento County on June 17. According to the county database, the project is currently at pre-application status.

The site is located approximately 1.6 miles southwest of Brennan Island Road and State Highway. Owner and applicant Mark Edwards stated in the application that there were no general stores close to the area and “only a few restaurants are available to local residents,” adding that “neighbors are eager to have it reopened.” Plans submitted indicate a new deck on the second floor, new landings and steps, and facade improvements.

The original Spindrift closed in 2019 and was sold to the current owner, Edwards. Edwards also owns the Spindrift Marina right down the street and a renewable energy and environment company called Nulight Solutions in Campbell.
