A new café is percolating in Citrus Heights.
According to the Citrus Heights Sentinel, Station Coffee Roasters is setting up shop at 7753 Mariposa Ave, taking over the former 10th Inning Tavern space.
Co-founders Edward Andrusyak and Valentin Krechunyak began roasting coffee in 2021, but the pair had been dreaming up a business even before the pandemic pushed them to take action. Together, they bring about a decade of coffee industry experience to this venture.
Although the Station Coffee Roasters café has been in the works for years, the journey hasn’t been smooth: the city issued a Stop Work Order in November 2021, which the team says stemmed from strict city regulations that significantly slowed progress. But now, construction is back on track, and visible headway is being made at the site.
“We want to create a welcoming atmosphere focused on great coffee without the pretense associated with high-end coffee,” Andrusyak and Krechunyak told What Now Sacramento.
The menu at Station Coffee Roasters will feature classics like lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites, plus a few signature drinks that are currently in development. Light bites and pastries will also be available.
The space itself will house both the café and the roastery, with plans to let guests view the roasting process through a glass partition.
Additionally, Andrusyak and Krechunyak hope to qualify for local city grants or incentive programs. “Unlike many new cafés… we are not highly financed,” they explained. “We are pulling the whole project with our own money… and [hope] that Citrus Heights is a business-friendly city.”
The duo aims to open the shop by the end of 2025—or sooner. “Trust me, we will open as soon as humanly possible,” they said. “Permits allowing, of course.”
For now, Station Coffee Roasters operates online and at local vendor fairs, offering small-batch beans and branded merch. The current lineup includes blends like the Nicaraguan “1950s Hybrid” and Brazilian “Hot Wire,” plus pins, shirts, stickers, and more.
