A new Black-owned business is making its way to Sacramento.
Local resident Johari “Jae” Dudley is preparing to open Sum’ Mo, a bar and café in the College Greens Shopping Center at 8363 Folsom Blvd, Suite 8383, according to a recently filed alcohol license.
While Dudley did not respond to What Now Sacramento’s requests for comment, her Facebook posts suggest the space is already being used as an event venue. In 2025, Sum’ Mo hosted several gatherings, including a Ladies Appreciation Night, an Open Mic for Future Stars, and a Christmas Ball, offering an early glimpse into the welcoming, community-focused atmosphere Dudley appears to be cultivating.
Official menu details have not yet been announced, though the business’s logo promises offerings that are “so good you want sum’ mo.” An opening date has also not been confirmed, but Dudley has shared that the business is coming “soon,” with floor plans currently underway.
“We have much more in store for your entertainment,” she wrote. “Consider Sum’ Mo for your comfort zone. Share and invite others. Free Parking. Will try to keep you apprised of our bar and cafe/kitchen progress. Floor plans underway NOW.”
Keep an eye out for updates as Sum’ Mo continues to take shape in Sacramento.
