A new Szechuan restaurant is coming to Midtown Sacramento‘s Firestone Building.

Dumpling King is taking over a 5,128-square-foot space at 1118 16th St. The former tenant, Station 16, closed at the end of June 2025 but still operates a location in Elk Grove.

The family-owned restaurant group behind the new concept operates several established eateries in Oregon, but the upcoming Midtown eatery will be the group’s first venture into California.

Dumpling King manager Jingyi Liu told the Sacramento Business Journal that the new restaurant will focus on authentic Szechuan dishes and handmade dim sum, including its namesake dumplings, green onion pancakes, beef rolls, and potstickers.

“We combine traditional Chinese flavors with local flavors and use traditional handmade techniques to promote Chinese culinary culture to the world,” she said. “We firmly believe that food is art. We are not just a restaurant chain, but also hope to showcase the traditional Chinese craftsmanship spirit and contribute our efforts to the local community.”

Dumpling King will undergo some light renovations and is expected to open its Midtown doors between late August and early September 2025. In the same building, Public House Downtown recently shuttered, and a new Mexican concept will soon open in its place.
