Just months after What Now Sacramento reported that Taqueria La Perla Tapatia was preparing to open a second location in Elk Grove, the family-run Mexican eatery appears to be gearing up for an even broader expansion across the Sacramento region.

Partner Toni Elizabeth Malarkey recently applied for a beer and wine license to launch a new Taqueria La Perla Tapatia outpost at 3221 Zinfandel Drive, Suite 3 in Rancho Cordova‘s Capital Village shopping plaza. The restaurant’s website also lists a South Sacramento location as “coming soon,” though an exact address for that outpost has not yet been disclosed.

Taqueria La Perla Tapatia currently operates a single location in Arden-Arcade’s Taylor Center shopping mall. However, the family behind the concept maintains a broader regional presence through its sister restaurant, Taqueria La Nueva Vallarta, which boasts locations in Sacramento’s Northgate Plaza shopping center and Roseville’s Highland Reserve Marketplace, as well as a third outpost currently under construction in Lodi.

Both concepts are known for their casual, counter-service setups and salsa bars, offering expansive menus of classic Mexican fare ranging from street tacos, nachos, and burritos to tortas, enchiladas, and fajitas made with homemade tortillas.

Restaurant representatives could not be reached for comment at the time of publication. Stay tuned for updates as Taqueria La Perla Tapatia continues to grow its Sacramento-area footprint.
