Following last week’s big expansion news, Tequileros Taqueria has officially locked in the addresses for its four upcoming Sacramento-area restaurants.
Founder Edgar Gomez told What Now Sacramento that the family-owned chain is headed for 5323 Sunrise Blvd in Fair Oaks, 943 Pleasant Grove Blvd in Roseville, and 9600 Bruceville Rd, Suite 100 in Elk Grove Commons, in addition to a ground-up build at the Davis Collection. Outside the local region, a Fontana restaurant is also in development.
Two of the new eateries—the Fair Oaks and Roseville outposts—will take over former Chando’s Tacos storefronts, while the Elk Grove site will move into the space previously occupied by Pho Lotus. Chando’s recently shuttered all its locations, and soon after, founder Lisandro “Chando” Madrigal appeared in court on felony charges of battery and domestic violence.
Launched in 2021 as a single Lodi food truck, Tequileros has grown at lightning speed, now boasting 11 locations across Northern California, including both brick-and-mortar restaurants and mobile units. Nearby sites already serve Elk Grove and Arden-Arcade.
Gomez said that the brand’s rapid growth won’t come at the expense of quality. A central commissary kitchen prepares most dishes daily before distributing them to each restaurant, ensuring consistency across all locations.
“We’ve gotten comments like, ‘Don’t grow, you’re going to lose quality,'” Gomez explained. “But what a lot of people don’t know is that everything gets cooked at just one location, and from there we distribute. So that’s never been an issue for us.”
Hungry fans won’t have to wait long for quesabirria tacos, loaded nachos, burrito bowls, and more. Gomez expects all four new locations to open by the end of 2025, starting with the Fair Oaks restaurant in about three weeks and then followed by Roseville, Elk Grove, and Davis.
