Located at 6125 Riverside Blvd, The Trap is Sacramento’s oldest dive bar and has been operating since the 1800s. The business and the property were purchased by the Lukenbill family in 2022. The dive bar is currently owned by Mariah Lukenbill, who has some ambitious plans for the Sacramento staple. This news was first seen in the Business Journal.

The Lukenbill family has made many improvements since the acquisition, including adding a 12-tap beer tower, incorporating a food trailer with rotating weekly specials, and some interior upgrades such as new televisions. Now, Lukenbill is ready to take the next step by increasing the building’s capacity with a new back stage by the patio with plans to apply for an entertainment license that will allow the bar to bring in live music.

“We’ve had a vision from the start, and this is kind of the final stages of what we originally wanted to do when we took over,” Lukenbill told the Business Journal. “The stuff that we’ve done so far ⏤ bringing in food and draft beer ⏤ that’s already drawn a lot of new customers, and more and more people have been curious to come check out what’s been done since new management has come in. I really think that bringing in the entertainment component will help bring in even more new customers and contribute to that environment that we are trying to curate, which is a fun, neighborhood spot for people to hang out.”

The Trap will not close its doors during this expansion, Lukenbill told What Now Sacramento in a text. Once the work is complete, The Trap’s capacity will double and reach 300 people.
