A casual Vietnamese restaurant in East Sacramento is expanding to Woodland.
Hanoi 36 Streets will open its second location in the former My Buffet space in the Cottonwood Plaza at 638 Cottonwood St, according to a recent California business registration filing. Owner Giang Phạm confirmed the news on Facebook.
“We’re thrilled to announce that the second Hanoi 36 Streets location is officially coming to Woodland, CA!” he wrote. “Pho lovers, bánh mì fans, and Vietnamese food seekers… get ready. We’ll be opening in just a couple of months — and we can’t wait to serve you!”
Phạm and his wife Anh Do launched Hanoi 36 Streets as a Vietnamese food truck in 2023 before opening their first brick-and-mortar restaurant near McKinley Rose Garden in late 2024.
The eatery quickly became a local favorite, serving classics like egg rolls, pho, and vermicelli noodle bowls, alongside beverages such as Vietnamese iced coffee and lychee lemonade.
Phạm told What Now Sacramento that diners can expect the same cozy, Old Quarter-inspired atmosphere and authentic street food flavors, though the Woodland location will be roughly twice the size of the original.
The new space is expected to seat around 80 guests and will feature a menu similar to the East Sacramento restaurant, with potential new dishes and weekend-only specials. Plans are also in the works to serve alcohol, pending approvals.
