According to CultureMap San Antonio, Saint City Supper Club is hosting its first pop-up in over two years in San Antonio on October 2.
Unlike previous events, which included crawfish boils and tiki-inspired dinners, the upcoming series will showcase local chefs and culinary talent in San Antonio. Giuseppe DeStefano — Executive Chef at Piatti, a longtime Italian food restaurant at 255 E Basse Road, Suite 500 — is leading the comeback.
“The focus will primarily be really interesting collabs, shining spotlights on local chefs, and providing some very cool nights for our people,” says Saint City Supper Club’s founder, Joel Rivas.
He adds that he hopes to host four dinners over the next 12 months — and that the events will be non-profit, with ticket sales covering rentals and payments to chefs and staff.
“This time around, we’re just doing it for kicks, and to promote great talent,” Rivas tells the Journal.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the supper club, it was founded by Rivas in 2017 alongside the Saint City Culinary Foundation, “a hospitality nonprofit that aimed to recruit more women into professional kitchens and help address mental health disparities in the field,” the Journal reports. In 2023, Rivas ended the foundation.
The upcoming event with Chef Giuseppe DeStefano will be the first dinner Rivas has hosted since that closure two years ago.
Where the dinner will take place has not been announced yet. Nevertheless, tickets for the dinner go on sale on Monday, September 8.
