Smokey Mo’s BBQ to Open in Schertz

Smokey Mo's BBQ will cook up and dish out BBQ plates, sandwiches, and wraps.

Smokey Mo’s BBQ is a local family-owned Texas staple that’s embarking on opening a new location in Schertz. According to Community Impact, the newest Smokey Mo’s BBQ is slated to open at 18430 I-35 N. in April.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Smokey Mo’s BBQ President, Craig Haley, for more details on the opening, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

Founded by Morris “Mo” and Lisa Melchor in Cedar Park, Texas, in 2000, Smokey Mo’s BBQ has become a booming family endeavor. There are now more than 20 Smokey Mo’s BBQ locations throughout the state. The operation involves all five Melchor children.

“Smokey Mo’s TX BBQ has all your Texas BBQ favorites, smoked in-house every day by our expert pitmasters,” the Smokey Mo’s BBQ website reads.

“Seasoned with our signature Smokey Mo’s dry rub, our brisket, chicken, sausage, turkey, and pork are seasoned, juicy, and perfect on their own or topped with our unique Smokey Mo’s BBQ sauce, a savory sauce with a depth of flavor and a little kick.”

Smokey Mo’s offers BBQ plates, sandwiches, and wraps. But the brand is known for its “low and slow” oak-smoked meats, which include burnt endsturkeysausagepork belly burnt ends, and brisket.

“Add our Homestyle Sides, kicked up just a notch, and you’ll agree that Smokey Mo’s TX BBQ is the Best Neighborhood BBQ in Texas™,” the website reads.

Smokey Mo’s BBQ is expected to open in Schertz at 18430 I-35 N. in April of this year.
