Popular Texas burger chain Whataburger plans to construct its first outpost in Cibolo. According to public records, the eatery will be located at 400 Cibolo Valley Drive, near CVS, Move It Self Storage, and Pic-n-Pac.

What Now San Antonio contacted Jon Barideaux, VP of Operations, but he was unable to provide additional information before the time of publication. Nevertheless, a recent permit application provides insight into what’s coming.

The application states that construction is estimated to begin in January 2024 and last until August. The location will be 3,305 square feet and cost around $2,500,000 to build — and San Antonio-based architectural firm Gensler is tasked with completing the job.

Known for its “bigger, better” burgers, chicken tenders, milkshakes, and breakfast options, Whataburger is a staple of Texas food culture.

The business describes how it all started on its website: “On Aug. 8, 1950, an adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson opened up the world’s first Whataburger on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. He had a simple goal: to serve a burger so big it took two hands to hold and so good that after one bite customers would say, ‘What a burger!’ He succeeded on both counts and turned that one little burger stand into a legend loved throughout Texas and the South.”

An opening date has not been announced, so follow Whataburger on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
