A routine inspection took place at the outlet on June 17, when multiple health violations were revealed. The inspecting officer found that the active infestation by rodents or vectors that are disease carriers would likely result in the contamination of food contact surfaces. This led them to warrant an immediate closure. The inspector informed the staff that the premises shall be kept clean and free of vermin. Food employees shall not care for or handle animals or pets during working hours.
During the inspection, it was observed that the condition of the floor and wall tiles was not as per standard compliance status. Several standard food handling practices were not followed by the outlet. Raw meat was stored above ready-to-eat food items. This could have led to cross-contamination. So, the staff were asked to keep food items separated and protected.
The Department of Environmental Health and Quality monitors food safety compliance across San Diego County. This ensures that all food businesses operate as per the food safety guidelines and do not lead to health hazards.
