Which Restaurants Failed to Pass Health Inspection This Week
Food and beverages are a major part of public hygiene. San Diego is quite stringent about rules and regulations, especially when it comes to restaurants. This week, a health inspection was conducted on various restaurants and outlets.
Three of them failed to get the passing score and were ordered closed until further notice.
Los Rancheros
Mexican and seafood restaurant lands into trouble (Source – Google Reviews)
Located at 1847 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065, this Mexican and seafood restaurant was found to have two major violations and one out-of-compliance activity. It is currently marked for re-inspection.
Proper cooling methods were not followed at this outlet. This means that potentially hazardous food was not cooled from 135°F to 41°F or below within six hours, as required. As per requirements, Potentially hazardous food such as canned tuna and reconstituted foods shall be cooled within four hours to 41°F or less. Rapid cooling must be ensured to avoid the growth of any kind of microorganisms.
Another major violation was related to hot and cold water. Hot running water at the washing sink measured less than 110°F from the faucet, and contaminated/unapproved water supply were the issues found at the food facility. Now, the restaurant needs to ensure an adequate, protected, pressurized, potable supply of hot water and cold water at all times and Warm water (100°F) at the handwashing sink.
Thawing methods at the outlet were out-of-compliance. This falls under Good Retail Practices (GRPs). Failing to maintain this leads to foodborne illness. The ideal method of thawing frozen food is by keeping it under refrigeration at a temperature of 41°F or below. Frozen food can also be thawed by submerging it under running cold water at 70°F or below for less than two hours.
