Another Broken Egg Cafe, a Southern-inspired breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant, is set to open its first location in San Diego County in the Chula Vista/ Eastlake area.

The first location is expected to open in mid-February 2026, according to franchise owner Zeeshan Naqvi, who is opening the concept with his niece, Mahrouz Syed. Naqvi tells What Now San Diego that the cafe will bring the brand’s chef-driven Southern dishes, paired with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, to San Diego’s South County and more.

“We are thrilled to introduce this elevated, chef-driven Southern brunch concept to Southern California,” Naqvi tells What Now San Diego. “After visiting several cafes in Florida and the Carolinas, we were drawn to the consistency of the service, the elevated food, and the unique flavors. People love breakfast and brunch, and we are excited to bring this experience to the West Coast.”

This will be the first location in San Diego, but expansion plans are already in motion. Naqvi intends to open at least five locations across San Diego County, eventually expanding North into Temecula and Riverside County. Before that, the franchise owners tell What Now San Diego that a second cafe is already expected to open within 12 months of the first location. The San Diego openings mark the beginning of a larger push into California, where Another Broken Egg Cafe currently operates one location in Burbank.

“We’re excited to partner with Zeeshan and Mahrouz to bring Another Broken Egg Cafe to the West Coast,” Chris Eby, Director of Franchise Sales, said in a press release. “Their passion for hospitality and quality food, along with their plans for growth, make them an ideal team to expand the brand in California.”

The Chula Vista cafe will feature signature menu items like Shrimp ‘N Grits, Chicken & Waffles, Lobster and Brie Omelette, and Southern Chicken Sandwiches, along with classic breakfast offerings like Chocolate Chip Pancakes and French Toast Samplers. Guests will also find a variety of brunch cocktails, including mimosas and bloody marys, in a modern, family-friendly environment designed for guests to gather and enjoy great food.

Founded in 1996, Another Broken Egg Cafe has become one of the fastest-growing breakfast chains in the country. The brand currently operates more than 100 locations in 17 states and is continuing to expand with nearly 100 more cafes in development. Known for its elevated breakfast and brunch menu, the cafe also offers gluten-friendly, vegetarian, and kid-friendly options to cater to a variety of dietary preferences.
