Better Buzz Coffee, considered one of the best coffee chains in San Diego, appears to have some interest in expanding into Rancho Penasquitos

Earlier this month, real estate agent Jocelyn Soriano Lomahan posted on social media claiming that Bad Ass Coffee, located within Plaza Rancho Penasquitos at 9878 Carmel Mountain Rd Suite C, will be closing this month, with Better Buzz possibly replacing it. While Lomahan heard the news from two close friends, including one that works at Bad Ass Coffee, nothing has been confirmed. In fact, a representative from the company tells What Now San Diego, “We’re exploring the possibility of opening a location at that site, but nothing is official just yet.”

Regardless of whether or not these plans come to life, it proves Better Buzz is interested in expanding its delicious coffee options throughout San Diego. Currently, the company is building a new location on the other side of Interstate 15 in Poway, which What Now previously reported. The potential location in Rancho Penasquites would make sense, considering it’s in a highly populated area with a lot of foot traffic. Bad Ass Coffee was also forced to close in late December following various health code violations.

It would be a massive deal for Better Buzz if it could land in this location, considering last year, the company focused on expanding beyond its hometown. Besides opening a new location in Del Mar, Better Buzz proudly expanded within California to Costa Mesa in Orange County, as well as a pair of out-of-state sites with Tempe and Las Vegas, and even more planned for 2025. The company, which began in 2002, is still interested in opening new locations within San Diego with this decision to scout sites in PQ. The company tells What Now San Diego that it will share updates on its social media.
