Chin’s Szechwan, a Southern California chain restaurant that has been serving high-quality Chinese food since 1976, is getting ready to open a new location in Point Loma at 3373 Rosecrans St.

The company’s seventh location is set to move into the former home of Guahan Grill, according to a recent liquor license application. Owner Howard Tsai tells What Now San Diego that this location is expected to open in February 2025, offering memorable experiences for its customers through its dishes, service, and restaurant decor. Chin’s Szechwan also has locations in La Jolla, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, and Vista.

When this new location opens, customers can expect the same menu as all the other locations, starting with a half-dozen appetizer and soup options. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a variety of meat options, as well as vegetable and tofu plates. Some house specialties served with egg fried rice, an appetizer, and a side include cashew shrimp, Ku Ting Crispy chicken, Shanghai Crispy pork, Walnut shrimp, and more. At the bottom of the menu, customers can find a list of key sauces and ingredients used at Chin’s Szechwan.

This is a massive accomplishment for the restaurant, which has already received many accolades. San Diego Magazine ranked Chin’s Szechwan as one of the Best Chinese Restaurants in the city, while The San Diego Union-Tribune ranked it one of San Diego’s favorites. These are just some of the many acknowledgments proudly displayed on the company’s website. When the new Point Loma location opens next year, it will become a go-to spot for authentic Chinese cuisine.
