Cocina De Barrio looks to be heading North and introducing a third location of their popular Mexican restaurant to Encinitas. According to commercial real estate company Cushman & Wakefield, they will move into a 3,611 square foot corner restaurant space formerly occupied by Lumberyard Tavern & Grill in the Lumberyard Shopping Center

Chef Jose J. Flores introduced Cocina De Barrio to Hillcrest in 2019. A second location was added in Point Loma in 2021.

Cocina De Barrio serves a creative menu of Oaxacan-style Mexican dishes like Braised Short Ribs in a traditional Mole Negro sauce. Their Brunch dishes range from savory to sweet with options like Chilaquiles Verdes or Rojo, and Mazapan Pancakes.

At the bar, find highly-Instagrammable Mezcal or Tequila signature cocktails like their Popsicle Margarita. Plus wine pairings from Valle de Guadalupe and Tamarindo or Jamaica flavored Mimosas.

No confirmation just yet on when we can expect Cocina De Barrio to open up in Encinitas. Stay updated by following their Instagram page.
