Corner Pizza, a growing North County pizzeria brand known for its neighborhood-style pizza shops, is preparing to open a new location in Encinitas at 628 S Coast Highway 101.
The company’s fourth location is set to take over the former home of East Village Asian Diner. While an official opening date has not been confirmed, a recent liquor license application indicates plans are in motion. Owned by Mario Guerra, Jimmy Maldonado, and Jason Janececk, the new shop will continue the brand’s focus on local, community-centered pizza dining with signature pies and casual service.
Corner Pizza currently operates three locations in Leucadia, South Oceanside, and Bressi Ranch, each offering counter-service ordering and a tight, curated menu of classic and creative pizzas. The company has built a loyal following for its approach to coastal neighborhood dining with simple design, fast service, and a consistent product.
The new Encinitas location places Corner Pizza in a high-visibility stretch of Coast Highway 101, aligning with its previous strategy of choosing walkable, beach-adjacent neighborhoods. The Encinitas market has seen steady growth in independent restaurant activity, making it a logical next step in the brand’s regional expansion.
The menu features several signature items such as the Killer Bee, made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, gorgonzola, soppressata, pepperoni, rosemary, and chili honey, and the Mushroom Queen, which includes truffle oil, seasonal mushrooms, and lemon-tossed arugula. Other favorites include the Sausage Fest and Margherita Burrata, highlighting fresh mozzarella, basil, and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
With all three current locations operating seven days a week and a loyal customer base in North County, the team is positioned to bring the same casual, quality-focused pizza experience to downtown Encinitas.
