El Kafecito, a local coffee shop with locations in Vista and Valley Center, is getting ready to open two more sites, including one in Otay Mesa at 2455 Otay Center Drive, Site #119.

The company’s third location is set to move into the former home of Blooming Urban Cafe, between Baja Duty Free and Carpet Cleaning at the Otay Crossroads, according to documentation submitted to the Department of Environmental Health and Quality. The new 960-square-foot location is expected to open first, followed by another site in San Marcos, scheduled to open by the end of the year. Customers can expect delicious coffee options and the occasional snacks from other local businesses.

El Kafecito operates from a small drive-thru outpost in Vista and offers a smile yet delicious menu full of coffee classics, such as an Americano, espresso, or tea, as well as specialties, including various latte options, Mexican mocha, and white chocolate mocha. El Kafecito also offers a handful of blended drinks and smoothies. With a larger space than a kiosk, the company will likely expand its food offerings beyond fruits and pastries.

This will be an excellent location for El Kafecito, which will see plenty of foot traffic coming from nearby hotels, including Quality Suites San Diego Otay Mesa and Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Diego Otay Mesa on the other side of the freeway. While there are a handful of other eateries in the area, there’s a limited number of cafes, with the only competition coming from Starbucks and McDonald’s. Considering El Kafecito will sit just one exit from the border and down the street from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Otay Mesa Port of Entry, this will be a great spot for workers and travelers.
