Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, a fast-casual sandwich shop known for its signature sauces and offbeat sandwich names, appears to be working on a new location in Escondido at 1264 Auto Park Way, Suite D.

The company’s newest site appears to be taking over the former home of Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, which is also the current home of Subway, continuing a streak of sandwich-focused tenants, according to documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health. While an official opening date has not been announced, customers can expect Ike’s signature hot sandwiches, “Dirty Sauce,” and local-exclusive creations across a broad menu catering to meat lovers, vegetarians, vegans, and those with dietary restrictions.

Ike’s Love & Sandwiches began in San Francisco in 2007 under the name Ike’s Place, founded by Ike Shehadeh. The brand quickly gained attention for its inventive approach to sandwiches, eventually growing into a West Coast staple. Today, Ike’s has dozens of locations across California and beyond, with a strong presence in Southern California.

The Escondido store will mark another step in Ike’s regional expansion, joining nearby locations in Poway, Del Mar, Sorrento Valley, La Jolla, and Mission Valley. Each location includes custom sandwich offerings named after celebrities, athletes, and pop culture references, adding a localized and playful twist to the menu.

Menu highlights include fan favorites like the “Menage A Trois” with halal chicken and triple cheeses, the “Matt Cain” with roast beef and salami, and vegan options such as the “Meatless Mike” and “James and the Giant Peach.” All sandwiches are served hot and come with Ike’s proprietary Dirty Sauce.

The chain continues to emphasize creativity and accessibility. Its success has been driven by a loyal following, a flexible menu that accommodates dietary needs, and a brand identity that blends irreverence with inclusivity.
