In-N-Out, the beloved burger chain that originated in Southern California, is getting ready to open another location in San Diego at 6405 El Cajon Boulevard.

The company’s new location is expected to open in the former home of Rite-Aid, next to the Seminole Drive Church of Christ, according to a notice of application first reported by SanDiegoVille. The notice shows plans to build a new, 3,886 square-foot restaurant with 82 parking spaces on a 2.19-acre lot. The company’s newest location is expected to open early next year, featuring a simplistic menu and its famous crossed palm trees in the front of the restaurant.

Last year, In-N-Out celebrated its 75th anniversary and opened its 400th location in late 2023. This is an impressive achievement for the company, considering there are In-N-Out locations in only eight states. The company has come a long way since Harry Snyder introduced California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand in a barely 100-square-foot space in Baldwin Park. Since its inception, In-N-Out has maintained its simple yet effective menu, with only three burger options, fries, shakes, and a handful of secret menu items.

“In-N-Out celebrates three-quarters of a century with 394 restaurants open throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Colorado,” according to the company’s website. “In its 75th year, the In-N-Out Burger family reaches over 38,000 dedicated Associates. The family-owned company carries the founding philosophy forward with a rigorous commitment to quality and freshness.”
