A brick-and-mortar location is coming for popular chocolate shop Iris Delights.

“We did a thing,” Iris Delights posted to Facebook in March. “So excited (and totally freaked out) to announce that we’ve signed a lease and will be opening up our own little chocolate shop in San Diego. More details to come, and be sure to check our IG stories in the next few weeks for fun progress photos as we demolish and then build out the space.”

Owner Iris Meyers said she hoped to hold a soft opening in June followed by a grand opening a few months after that.

“It’s exciting and terrifying,” she said.

The company posted to Instagram last week that it was going to start demolition and buildout of the new space. Some of the demolition work includes removing the bar area for open production space.

Previously Donburi Kitchen, Meyers admitted the space will need a bit of work before opening.

Working out of a commercial kitchen, Iris Delights chocolates range from brownie bites, to ganche-filled treats, to caramel and marshmallow flavors.

Opening in the Tierrasanta Gateway, the chocolate shop will be in a busy neighborhood center anchored by the Post Office with several long-term tenants. Customers will have easy access to the 52 Freeway.

“I’ve been searching for months,” Meyers said. “The location is very convenient off the freeway in a very vibrant community. We’re really excited to join the neighborhood and we look forward to sharing delicious chocolates with all of San Diego.”
