After setting its roots in Orange County and Los Angeles, Jan’s Health Bar is finally ready to expand further south into San Diego with a new location opening in Del Mar at 3745 Paseo Place.

The company’s eighth location is set to move into the former home of Le Macaron and Parakeet Cafe in One Paseo, according to an announcement made by the company last week. The new location of Jan’s Health Bar is set to open in Spring 2025, although an exact opening date has yet to be announced, and the space is currently under construction. When this site opens, customers can expect made-to-order and healthy sandwiches, soups, salads, and smoothies.

Jan’s Health Bar was founded in 1972 by Jan Gaffney to make healthy food accessible. Before healthy eating became popular, she served meals from carefully sourced ingredients to ensure quality. In 2010, Poppy Holguin took over the business, honoring Jan’s vision by retaining the name to preserve the brand’s integrity in the community.

“It’s the customer loyalty and their love for our food and brand that has kept Jan’s in business for almost 50 years,” according to Holguin via the company’s website. “Jan’s has been a part of my life in some shape or form for over 35 years. When I see our customers enjoying it in the way I have and share their memories of Jan’s, I can’t help but feel inspired and motivated to continue.”

Jan’s Health Bar thoughtfully sources every ingredient, serving customers the freshest and highest-quality meals to ensure that every item on the menu contributes to a healthy lifestyle. The majority of the menu has been the same for over 45 years, which shows that fresh food prepared simply never goes out of style.
