Jimmy John’s and Dunkin Donuts continue to expand throughout San Diego County, this time with a site at 4140 Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa.
The company’s newest location is set to move into the former home of KFC, according to signage on the building. This is the latest from Talisin “Tali” Burton, the franchise owner responsible for the recent expansion of both brands in San Diego County. Previously, What Now San Diego announced the franchisee expanding to SDSU, Downtown, Chula Vista, Pacific Beach, and Cardiff. The new Kearny Mesa site will be one of the first joint locations with a drive-thru.
Burton expanded both brands in San Diego County while at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. After a year-long vetting process, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a Dunkin’ franchisee in 2014 by signing a development agreement for 16 stores. He also committed to opening 27 Jimmy John’s locations, marking its first entry into the San Diego market. Over the next few years, Burton successfully introduced both brands to the area. Now, he will open a new location with a twist, allowing customers to order from either restaurant without getting out of their car.
“Much of San Diego’s population is like me—a transplant,” Burton said at the time of the franchise agreement signing. “This has always inspired my desire to bring the best brands from other regions into the area. Jimmy John’s has already established itself as a proven concept on a national scale, resonating with consumers because of its quality food and fast service, so I’m eager to provide residents in San Diego the Jimmy John’s experience.”
