Luckie Coffee is the latest coffee brand making its way to North San Diego. The coffee shop is preparing to move into a 450-square-foot space in Old Poway Village Shopping Center on Midland Road.

Husband and wife Owners Tom Hadix and Kayte Wetherington have deep roots in Poway. The two met at Poway High and have been together ever since. Hadix tells What Now San Diego it was while they were strolling the Poway Farmers Market in their hometown, they noticed what was missing there: coffee.

Now the two are launching Luckie Coffee to fill that gap, situated in the historic shopping hub across from Old Poway Park. They’ll join the likes of nearby businesses Smokin J’s BBQ and Mission Cellars Urban Winery, plus the weekly Saturday Farmers Market that can be found right outside their new coffee shop space.

“Our concept is brewing coffee one cup at a time, catered just to you,” explains Hadix. “We’ll be making specialty ingredients in-house, no cheap syrups. Lots of fun flavors to choose from, with cold brews, pour overs, and quick bites. Simple but only the good stuff.”

Luckie Coffee is hoping to welcome in customers by Summer 2022. Looking ahead toward Poway’s annual 4th of July celebrations, Hadix and Wetherington are hoping to help kick off the summer festivities on their home turf.
