Bucket Listers, the media experiences brand known for making every day an adventure, and Mattel, Inc., the leading global toy and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, continue to make waves with their Malibu Barbie Cafe.

Following the viral success of their first seven locations (New York, Chicago, Miami, Mall of America, Austin, Houston, and soon Australia), sights are now set on San Diego. West Coast fans of the most iconic fashion doll in history will soon be able to experience Barbie like never before.

Opening July 11th at Bayside Kitchen and Bar, located at 2137 Pacific Hwy, the Malibu Barbie Cafe will allow guests to experience the ultimate form of Barbiecore dining alongside a groovy roller rink worthy of Barbie herself. Guests can expect a fast-casual menu (created by Master Chef finalist and Chopped Champion Chef Becky Brown) emphasizing all-day friendly fare, delicious desserts, and a variety of drinks.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of Malibu Barbie Cafe in San Diego, bringing a truly unique experience that celebrates the Barbie brand and all she represents to the city,” Julie Freeland, Vice President of Global Location-Based Entertainment, Mattel, said in a press release. “At Mattel, we are always looking for exciting, new ways to bring the Barbie experience to life. From the décor to the menu, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the iconic Barbie style.”

In collaboration with Mattel, the project is spearheaded by Derek Berry, President of Experiences at Bucket Listers (the mastermind behind pop-up phenomena such as Saved by the Max, The Golden Girls Kitchen, Family Guy Experience, and the Blockbuster Experience). The family-friendly pop-up restaurant and roller rink will be inspired by the groovy beachside energy of 1970s Malibu, a time of carefree summer days when Malibu Barbie was first introduced to the world.

“Bucket Listers is honored to continue partnering with Mattel, bringing Malibu Barbie Cafe to San Diego after sold-out runs across the country,” Berry said in a press release. “Barbie has proven to be one of history’s ultimate icons, it means so much for us to bring exclusive experiences like this to life for our community. Just in time for this year’s Comic Con, we cannot wait for America’s Finest City to see what we have in store.”

The pop-up will also feature exclusive merchandise and a variety of signature interactive activities for fans to enjoy between trips around the rink. Proceeds from each roller skate rental ($1) will be donated back to the Cafe’s charity partner, the American Red Cross, in support of those affected by California Wildfires. Special events, such as Cupcake Decorating Classes, Paint Parties, and 21+ Skate Nights, will also be available.

Tickets for the restaurant ($25 each, including food and merchandise credit) will be available exclusively at Bucket ListersJoin the waitlist to receive the first notification of tickets going on sale on June 11th.
