With its pizza already found across the city, Mr. Moto Pizza is adding location number nine in Mission Valley.

“We really like that mall in particular,” Owner Gibran Fernandez said. “We like that area and I think Mission Valley needs some more pizza options.”

Heading for the Friars Mission Shopping Center, Mr. Moto Pizza will be located in the heart of one of the most densely populated areas of San Diego, surrounded by a high-rise office market.

Moving into a former Mexican restaurant, Fernandez hoped to open within the next four months at the roughly 1,000-square-foot space.

“This will make nine for the area,” he said. “We’re the home of the original stuffed garlic knots but we also do very intensive and creative pies.”

Mr. Moto’s menu includes pies like the Greek Freak, with Gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, onions, feta, and more, as well as the Mamma Moto with burrata , truffle oil, parsley, and cherry tomatoes.

The restaurant wants to bring back the old New York pizzeria experience with a fresh and original twist.

Mr. Moto Pizza was established in 2015 in Pacific Beach and has since opened locations in North Park, Point Loma, La Jolla, and Ocean Beach.

Fernandez said he’s looking at La Mesa for further expansion.
