A new permit filing surfaced this week ahead of plans to introduce a new restaurant concept called The Remy. SanDiegoVille first reported The Remy will replace a former landmark restaurant in Mission Valley

The Remy will debut in the now closed space long occupied by Hunter Steakhouse. Formerly known as Hungry Hunter Steakhouse, the name was shortened to Hunter Steakhouse when their parent company declared bankruptcy in 2008 leaving the Hunter to go independent.

While details on the new concept are sparse in its early stages of planning, The Remy comes from restaurateur Jonathan Frank. Frank alongside co-owner Dennis O’Conner operate Home & Away, a sports bar specializing in craft cocktails and beer with locations in Old Town and Encinitas.

If Home & Away’s craft forward concept is any indication of what is ahead for The Remy, we can likely expect modern updates to be made on the 4,824 square foot, 1970’s-era building on Hotel Circle Place

The Remy does not yet have a social media presence and an opening announcement has not been made.
