The long-anticipated arrival of Buona Forchetta to North City took place today, as the San Diego-staple opened its doors for lunch and dinner service at its newest location.

North City, the ‘city within a city’ is a collaborative effort between the City of San Marcos and developer Sea Breeze Properties. The vibrant destination is projected to include 3,000 units of mixed housing and 375,000 square-feet of mixed retail.

“The acclaimed Buona Forchetta is a welcome addition to the collection of restaurants in our rising neighborhood,” said Andy Tenn, senior project manager at Sea Breeze Properties, developer of North City. “The brand is sure to be an enticing draw for North County locals, students at Cal State San Marcos, and visitors from across San Diego. As our state is now fully reopening after a challenging year, the timing is ideal and we are excited to continue building out our dream city with San Diego’s best local businesses.”

Buona Forchetta occupies a 3,000 square-foot space in North City’s downtown development. The North City location, similar to the flagship in South Park, will offer an all-day menu featuring its famous Neapolitan and Roman-style pies baked in a custom Stefano Ferrara Italian pizza oven. According to a press release, the North City location will eventually offer breakfast and brunch menus as well as a retail store selling Italian goods, fresh pasta, and bakery items.

I’d say your weekend plans just got a little more interesting.
