Puesto, an award-winning Mexican restaurant with locations throughout Southern California, is getting ready to open a new site in Sorrento Valley at 9955 Barnes Canyon Rd #1.
The company’s fourth San Diego location, and 12th overall, including stadium sites, is set to move into a brand new unnamed development coming to the former home of Courtney’s, according to documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. While it’s unclear when this location will open, it will join a new location of White Rice, the fourth location for award-winning chef Phillip Esteban. In San Diego, Puesto has locations in Downtown, Mission Valley, and La Jolla, plus additional sites in Irvine, Anaheim, Santa Clara, and Concord.
When the new Sorrento Valley location opens, customers can expect various delicious Mexican foods, ranging from snacks and shareables to plates and enchiladas. While the restaurant offers plenty of good food, Puesto has become even more popular with its drink offerings, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, such as its famous frozen horchata. In 2020, the company debuted the inaugural Puesto Cervecería inside its Mission Valley location. Once the home to Gordon Biersch, this fully operational brew-house was commissioned by Puesto to create a set of world-class Mexican lager offerings.
“The core lineup of beers produced by Puesto Cervecería is a trio of Mexican lagers, meant not only to pair perfectly with our tacos but to also pay homage to Mexico’s classic beer styles,” according to the company’s website. “Our selection also includes diverse IPA styles highlighting different hop profiles, along with seasonal brews year-round.”
