Padres fans will soon find the latest restaurant and bar just steps from Petco Park with R Place Sports Bar and Grill coming soon to the Gaslamp Quarter. Situated beneath the Icon apartments, the sports bar will move into the 4,014 square-foot space formerly occupied by sushi restaurant The Dragon’s Den.
Built for sports enthusiasts, R Place is outfitted with 22 TV screens and 24 draft taps. Social media updates show progress on renovations to the space, updating the walls with hand crafted murals of sports team logos.
Guests can expect a menu of All-American food options and classic Mexican dishes. The team behind R Place are no stranger to operating lively bars, formerly running Alki Beach Pub in Seattle.
A rep for R Place tells What Now San Diego the project is currently in the permitting process that will determine their opening date.
