Sister companies Stella Jean’s Ice Cream and Pop Pie Co. were recently approved for a permit filing at 4195 Voltaire Street in San Diego. The two, of course, make an excellent pair.

Pop Pie Co. is a SoCal fast-casual restaurant and artisanal bakery for ‘all things encased in crust.’ Executive Chef Gan Suebsarakham creates sweet and savory pies in-house daily. The globally inspired menu, with influences from Australia, Europe, and Asia, features slices to hand pies, meat and vegetarian.

Stella Jean’s Ice Cream is the complement to Pop Pie Co. It’s a small batch ice cream shop that offers ‘innovative handcrafted ice cream’ and, according to the shop’s Instagram page, was ranked Top 10 Ice Cream Shops in the U.S. by USA Today.

Stella Jean’s website shares that both companies were “born of the same philosophy—great good, celebrated with valued friends and neighbors.”

Now Voltaire Street will have its share. The sister companies are due to move into the roughly 2,000 square foot storefront formerly occupied by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Suebsarakham was unavailable for comment at the time of this article, so we are currently unable to offer a concrete timeline for the expansion.
