Spitz, a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant known for its vibrant atmosphere, diverse menu, and commitment to healthy, flavorful food, is getting ready to enter San Diego once again with a new location coming to Pacific Beach at 967 Garnet Ave.

The company’s only San Diego site is set to move into the former home of Crushed, according to a recent liquor license application. Franchise owner Christopher Burnthon, who is opening Spitz PB with Shealin and Aian Brennan-Law and Chris Law, tells What Now San Diego that this location is expected to open in mid-summer 2025, although he couldn’t provide an exact opening date. Spitz previously had a location in Hillcrest, but that site has since closed, making this the only location in San Diego.

When this new location opens, customers can expect a modern take on Mediterranean street food, featuring dishes like wraps, salads, gyros, falafel, hummus, and their signature fries. Popular items include the Berliner Bowl, Mediterranean Doner Wrap, and Paneer Tikka Fries. The menu accommodates various dietary needs with vegan, gluten-free, and keto options. Locations feature modern decor, outdoor patios, and board games for guests. Many also serve craft beer, sangria, and cocktails, creating a casual, social dining experience. Spitz also offers catering services for events, including vegan and breakfast options.

“Spitz, now a foodie-favorite, started as a simple concept,” according to the company’s website. “Two college kids from Minnesota and Utah, who wanted to bring a healthier, modern take on the Mediterranean food ubiquitous in the streets of Europe, to cities across America. Named after the classic vertical method for broiling proteins that ensures a flavorful, rich taste, Spitz has grown to be more than just award-winning food, great drinks, local craft beer, and vibrant street art – we’re now a part of the community.”
