Swagyu Burger has majorly updated its lineup of open and planned restaurants in Southern California. After recently opting to close the doors at its Pacific Beach restaurant and rebranding to Beach Bum Burger Bar, SanDiegoVille reports the new concept won’t see its debut.

While details are murky at the moment, the burger spot led by Chef and Owner Steve Brown has also temporarily closed its flagship restaurant in Imperial Beach. However, the brand pushed ahead with opening an outpost at the CloudKitchen spot Costa Mesa Kitchens in Orange County.

According to a recent food permit filing here in San Diego, Swagyu Burger is also slated to join our local CloudKitchen Barrio Food Hub in Barrio Logan.

Known for its signature Wagyu beef smash burgers, Swagyu had operated its restaurants and Chop Shops in Imperial Beach and Poway, with one spot in Hawaii, and a sit-down restaurant and bar concept due in Oceanside.

Beyond the closed locations, temporary or not, the brands’ website now includes its newest plans to join Westfield UTC Mall and open new spots in Coronado as well as Los Angeles in 2024. Stay updated on brand changes and announcements by Chef Steve Brown by following them on Instagram
