Taco Centro, a modern taqueria that is inspired by the market food stalls and street food vendors, is getting ready to open a new location in Little Italy at 2171 Kettner Boulevard.

The company’s second location is set to move into the former home of Bun & Patti on the ground-floor space of the AV8 Apartment Building, first reported by SanDiegoVille. Owner Adrian Gutierrez confirms the news with What Now San Diego and says this new site is expected to open in August 2025, offering the same delicious menu offerings as the original location at 539 Island Avenue. Gutierrez was inspired to open this concept after experiencing the food stalls and street vendors in his hometown of Cotija, Michoacán.

Taco Centro offers a menu focused on modern Mexican street food. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring tacos, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, and sides, with options including carne asada, al pastor, birria, and vegetarian choices such as cactus and mushrooms. Beverages include aguas frescas, Mexican bottled drinks, and a selection of alcoholic options such as margaritas and draft beers. Taco Centro is open daily, with extended hours on weekends, and offers weekly specials, including Taco Tuesday and weekday happy hour.

This will be an excellent location for the company’s second site due to the area’s vibrant atmosphere and high foot traffic. The neighborhood boasts a dense concentration of over 40 restaurants per square mile, making it a culinary hotspot. Nearby attractions like the Little Italy Mercato, Piazza della Famiglia, and the Kettner Art and Design District draw both locals and tourists year-round. With its walkability and consistent visitor flow, this location offers a prime opportunity for Taco Centro to attract a diverse and engaged customer base.
