The team from The Joint in Ocean Beach are working on another restaurant concept to debut in their neighborhood. SanDiegoVille first reported The Bowl will introduce a Japanese-inspired concept on Newport Avenue, replacing Taika Sushi.

Established in 2011, the OB restaurant is known for its sushi, poke bowls, tapas-style small plates, and weekend brunch. Now Owner Mike Lowe and Chef Chris Osborne will expand in familiar territory with The Bowl.

The Bowl is expected to offer Izakaya style dining, serving fresh sushi, chef-inspired ramen dishes with an emphasis on farm to bowl ingredients, and a robust beer and sake program that locals are accustomed to at The Joint.

Reports say OBecians can look forward to The Bowl opening in Fall 2022. For now, follow The Joint OB on Instagram for the latest specials.
